I’m not normally a BeBe fan, a lot of the time I find her voice to be very grating on the ears, however Meant To Be and I Got You were noteworthy singles so I bought the album based off of those two tracks, and what a surprise.
Very rarely does an album come along where I don’t find myself skipping a track or two, but BeBe has very much proven herself on this debut LP. Every track has a story (some thin) but that’s what I feel makes an artist and track have a lasting presence.
Current single I’m A Mess begs for radio play (here’s hoping for a hit) but tracks like Grace, Shining Star & Ferrari really are pop gems. I have a feeling this album will grow in underrated cult status over time much the same as Blackout from Britney has over the years as this album is the complete package and surprisingly her voice isn’t as annoying and screechy in the way that makes Jessie J’s albums somewhat unbearable at times.
I look forward to seeing what BeBe offers in the future, and I’m calling this the best pop album of the year thus far, with only real competition I feel coming that of Jess Glynne
