Pharrell's neues Solo Album!
Nach den riesen Hits "Blurred Lines", "Get Lucky" und "Happy" waren die Erwartungen sehr hoch! ZUm teil wurden sie erfüllt, zum Teil aber auch nicht!
Es gibt zwar keine "schlechten" Songs, jedoch gibt es Songs auf dem Album die für seine Verhältnisse eher schwach sind!
Hitmässig sehe ich hier sicherlich "Brand New" mit Justin Timberlake, würde sich sicherlich gross Verkaufen dank den Namen, "Come Het It Bae" ebenfalls!
Aber für mich wäre die perfekte nächste Single "Know Who You Are" feat. Alicia Keys *_*
Mal schauen wie sich das Album schlägt, wer seine bekannten Hits mag sollte sicherlich mal reinhören, aber so ein Hamme Album ist das jetzt nicht, sicherlich kein Anwärter auf den Titel "Bestes Album des Jahres", wie ich es zuvor gedacht habe!

Auch wenn mir "Happy" zunehmend auf die Nerven geht, habe ich dem Album mal eine Chance gegeben und war gleich beim Opener Feuer und Flamme. Doch leider ist "Marilyn Monroe" gleich das klare Highlight für mich; danach folgen keine wirklichen positiven Überraschungen mehr, sondern genau das, was man erwartet hat: Viel Funk, viel R&B, viel Soul, wie man es inzwischen von Pharrell gewohnt ist. Nur leider kriegt mich solche Musik im Moment nur schwer, weshalb mich "G I R L" nur bedingt begeistern kann. Es ist aber ein gutes Album und für Freunde des Genres sicher eine Freude.

Kann mich sbmqi90's Review eigentlich total anschliessen. Ich habe mir das Album besorgt, einfach weil Pharrell nun in aller Munde ist und innert einem Jahr bereits drei sehr grosse Erfolge gelandet ist ("Get Lucky", "Blurred Lines" und zurzeit noch erfolgreicher mit "Happy"). Auch wenn mir keines der drei Stücke wirklich umgehauen hätte.

Und da ich auch schon die Alben "Random Access Memories" und "Blurred Lines" wie auch Justin Timberlake's beide Alben "The 20/20 Experience", an welche ich oft denken musste beim Durchhören von "G I R L", alle eher weniger bis mittelmässig gefallen haben, bin ich doch positiv überrascht wie gut Pharrell's zweites Solo-Werk geworden ist.

Die Kollabos mit Alicia und Miley (Zweitere ist ja leider nicht credited) gehen erwartet schnell ins Ohr und haben grosses Single-Potenzial. Vor allem "Come Get It Bae" ist total eingängig. Auch Tracks wie der Opener "Marilyn Monroe" oder "Hunter" zeigen, dass es noch etliche gute Tracks auf dem Album gibt (trotz nur zehn vorhandenen Songs!) und so steht einem weiteren erfolgreichen Jahr für Pharrell eigentlich überhaupt nichts mehr im Weg.

A fresh album from Pharrell Williams! Most of the album is well produced, and a lot of effort has gone in, but a few can be a bit lazy and too mainstream. Overall a very good release from Pharrell, though the fact that it is 2014, and his sound has changed, it is very difficult to compare to his previous material, which was more underground than this.

Ich muss sagen, ich bin enttäuscht. Ich habe nicht so viel erwartet, aber auf jeden Fall mehr als das. "Happy" war und ist genial, auf dem Album ist kein annähernd so guter Song.

Es ist mir jeder zu normal, oder wie soll ich sagen. Es berührt mich einfach keiner, und wenn mich einer berührt regt der mich gleich wieder auf weil alles 100 mal wiederholt wird. Bei "Brand New" mit Justin Timberlake ist immer die gleiche Musik dahinter, sonst fände ich den Song wirklich genial, aber so kann mans nach einmal reinziehen nie mehr hören. Von beiden stimmlich nur mässige Arbeit.

Happy ist einfach das einzige auf dem ganzen Album, das wirklich "Happy" macht. Ohne diesen Song bekäme das ganze Album von mir nur 3*, egal wie viel der Durchschnitt ergäbe. Kann den Erfolg mit diesen Songs überhaupt nicht nachvollziehen.

Das Duett mit Alicia Keys .. grosse Namen, kleines Ergebnis, wobei mich Alicia noch ein wenig mehr zu überzeugen vermag als Pharrell. Ich habs gehört und kurz danach hatte ich schon keine Ahnung mehr, wie der Song funktionierte. Das ist generell ein schlechtes Zeichen. Er plätschert einfach vor sich hin ohne irgendwas, dass darf einfach nicht sein!

Das Album bekommt von mir doch noch vier Sterne, dank "Happy", der sehr guten Produktion (!!!) und den hörbaren, aber vor sich hinplätschernden Songs.

Auf dem ersten Blick ein total enttäuschendes Album.

Die Erwartungen sind einfach zu hoch gewesen, denn nach den Superhits der letzten Monate aus seiner Feder hat man mehr erwartet.

Doch auf diesem Album gibt es nur ein Highlight mit ''Happy''.
''Marilyn Monroe'' ist auch ganz angenehm, doch nervt nach einer Weile ganz schön.

Auf jeden Fall gibt es auf dem Album viele soulige Nummern mit viel Funk und 70er Jahre Style-Songs.

Stellenweise erinnern mich einige Songs an MiCHAEL JACKSONS off the wall Ära.

I don't normally review after the initial first listen but rather gradually let an album infiltrate my listening habits if it shows promise.
I really do have mixed feeling about Pharrell now after his rather ridiculous treatment of Perth fans this week so i've decided to give this it's review now while it's relevant.

The album is very slick and well produced which is what you would expect from a Pharrell Williams record.
Someone has already said some it seems lazy and mainstream, I also agree with this.
My major sticking point is the inclusion of his world conquering 'Happy'. To me it doesn't belong here and was most probly an after thought from the record company to cash in, with that consideration I don't think anybody would expect Pharrell to have a #1 selling album.
So if 'Happy' is the backbone of this effort? Well unfortunately you will be disappointed with the rest, like Pharrell himself.

Von bestimmten Medien gepushtes Album, das mich mässig überzeugt. Auf der positiven Seite für mich Marilyn Monroe, Happy (da ich nicht gross Radio höre, gar nicht oft gehört!), Gust Of Wind sowie das Keys-Duett - der Rest uninteressant, Schnitt von 3.4, abgerundet.

A pretty solid effort but it can tend to get a bit samey and since it's not in my favourite styles of music that can become a bit dull for me.

Pharrell heeft weer een goed nieuw album geleverd.
'G I R L' staat vol met 10 gloednieuwe frisse liedjes met o.a. de no. 1 hit 'Happy'.

Verdiend om no. 1 te worden!

Not bad, not great, only good. Happy and the two collaborations are stand out tracks for me, but I can understand Marilyn Monroe as the choice for the second single. There is a fine line between consistent and samey, and unfortunately, G I R L falls into the latter.

Überraschend gutes Album, denn dies ist nicht meine bevorzugte Musikrichtung.
Die letzten drei Songs fallen leider etwas ab, zum Schluss geht die Luft aus.

Voor mij persoonlijk toch wat overroepen hoor, die: "Pharrell Williams", die in het voorjaar van 2014 dit album: "G I R L", uitbracht!!! Er is absoluut hitmateriaal op te vinden, maar zonder meer!!! Afgerond: 4 sterren!!! ☺

Harte drei, da mir das Werk als gesamtes viel zu kopfstimmenlastig ist, was extrem zu nerven beginnt.

I wouldn't call myself the biggest Pharrell fan and nothing on here really piques my interest but it wasn't as awful as I thought it might be. Pharrell seems to have this unique sound with his production which is nice at the beginning but gets tiresome, especially considering the ubiquity of his production style over the last two years. Happy kills me, I never liked it in the first place but the record breaking chart run is enough to make me never want to hear it ever again. Come Get It Bae is fun though, and there are some other half decent ones on here, but I'm not really feeling the album as a whole, it's very short and has nothing that pops out. 3.0/6.

Gutes Album. Aber nicht weltbewegend ...
