Samantha Jade feat. Pitbull

– Shake That

Nothing really new, but it's a fresh and upbeat track from Samantha Jade. It's good she's building an international profile, albeit collaborating with Pitbull.

Does everyone need to collaborate with Pitbull now? Still, putting that aside, it manages to still maintain that catchy clean pop goodness inside. However, it does feel a lot like "Can I Get A Moment" with a Pitbull verse added on the Bridge.

It is lively, I will give it that, but I don't think much of it.

I think the liveliness can be attributed to Pitbull's involvement in this, as the production to all of his songs have this sound about it.

We get all the stuff we usually expect from Pitbull. The "Mr Worldwide"'s, the howling, the shameless promoting of his own vodka in the music video. You know, the norm for him.

I did laugh a bit at the "I'm all ears, unlike Van Gogh" line, so well done there Pitbull.

Eher auf der nervigen Seit. Sie erinnert mich nach wie vor sehr an Kylie Minogue, vor allem durch ihr Aussehen. Dass sie hier Pitubll mit ins Boot holt verschlimmert das Ganze nur noch. Leider muss ich die 3.5* abrunden da es wirklich nerven kann.

Nervöses Teil

I like it but can't love it. I'm a sucker for a song like this so I was probably always going to like it but it is a poor man's "Can I Get a Moment?" and that really annoys me. It also annoys me how once Sony get onto a trend they do it to death. Jess Mauboy did it, Guy Sebastian did it, and now Samantha Jade is doing it and it's unfortunately a year too late, but I enjoy it regardless.

Edit: This has actually grown to the point where it's my favourite single of hers (along with Up and Sweet Talk), and despite Mauboy's far superior vocals I actually prefer this track to Can I Get a Moment?. Who would've thought? Anyway, this is just a big bundle of fun. Up to a 5*

Dancy tune, not too bad, not too great. Video is really desperate. 2.5 maximum. Seen it all before, no originality, but its Sony for you after all.

A sad attempt in Samantha's continuing efforts to be somebody, anybody else who is more successful and interesting. This serves only to prove that there are limits even to what Pitbull will do for money, willing to appear on the song, and even let them film him in his lounge room for a couple of minutes for the video, but (presumably) unwilling to meet Samantha and record with her and definitely not willing to actually be seen with her in the video. Why Samantha isn't having the success of Altiyan (and now Reece) already is mystifying to me; she offers nothing of value to music.

A concoction at attempts of making any hook stick and ultimately just being really annoying. Pitbull once again there for name value only, and he only makes it all the more embarrassing. 1.5

Pitbull kann es mit seinem "Mr. Worldwide" nicht lassen…Stück für die australischen Dancefloors, knapp aufgerundete 2.5…

Gar nicht mal sooo schlecht.
Pitbull stört, aber die Nummer geht noch mit einer knappen 4*- durch.

The first single from Samantha Jade's long awaited second album. It's a shame that this isn't as good as many of her previous singles, but I'm glad it managed to keep her somewhat relevant. Jessica Mauboy did this better with "Can I Get A Moment?", and didn't need a Pitbull verse either. This is catchy and fun at least, but it's just an example of how lazy Australian pop music can get.
